Busuu is available in a free version and a student version for $4.99 a month. The upsell to the student version removes banner ads in the app, a microphone, and the option to sign up for an unlimited number of classes.
Busuu is a fun way to learn a language, but some people may find that it or its features have limitations. For example, I found that the app struggled to distinguish between words that rhyme (and that Busuu thought were the same word) such as \"year\" and \"terrify\". That positioning chip you get to buy in Black Friday happens to be the exact same character as a lock symbol, so if Busuu happens to see your phone unlocked, it may render your entire app otherwise unusable. While the $4.99 one-time payment is reasonable, more than a year may pass before you need to pay again. You can also subscribe through iTunes.
Busuu is a great app for the student who wants to broaden her or his skills and learn a new language, no matter what your level. But if you want to explore languages and compare their similarities and differences, you’ll need a more thorough tool. 7211a4ac4a
